Anthony Wayne Mots

Tony graduated from Park Hill High school. He then dedicated over 30 years of his life to public service with the Kansas City Kansas Fire Department, retiring from Station 9. Throughout his career, he was known for his generous nature and his willingness to help anyone in need. He took great pride in training and teaching many young firefighters. At the station, he was a fun presence who treated everyone equally. He loved spending time sitting in front of the station with the kids, whom he absolutely adored. During his service, he also took charge of the boat crew at 9s. He shared many of these years of service alongside his best friend, Michael Quinn.

Outside of his career, Tony lived life to the fullest. He loved traveling to Canada to fish and hunt, where his folks were from. He also had a major passion for competition demolition derby racing. He thoroughly enjoyed the thrill of racing cars and joked that it was the one place he could crash into anything without getting into trouble. Following his retirement from the fire service, Tony moved to Oklahoma where he lived by Tenkiller Lake off and on for five years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Bernice Mots, as well as his two beloved sons, Brandon and Tanner.

He is survived by his brother Randall (Karen) Mots, sister Carolyn Mots, along with his children Dawson (Ashton) and Bailey.

Family, friends and firefighters are invited to gather and honor his life during a memorial service at White Chapel on Friday, August 21 at 2:00 PM, with a visitation starting an hour prior. Immediately following the service, Tony’s ashes will be placed at White Chapel Cemetery, returning to the side of his two boys where he can watch over them forever.
