Tony was born on June 14, 1936, in Brunswick, Missouri to Anthony A. and Mary K. Strub. Tony attended and graduated from De La Salle High School in Kansas City, Missouri with the Class of 1952 at the age of 16. Tony would enlist in the US Army from 1956 -1958, serving in Germany as a mechanic working on tanks. After his military service Tony got married and had two daughters.
Tony attended William Jewell College graduating in 1966 with a degree in Spanish and French. He would go on to also earn his Master’s and Specialist’s Degree in Secondary School Administration at University of Central Missouri at Warrensburg. After teaching in the Kearney School District and Kansas City Public Schools, Tony taught Spanish and was the middle school principal at Pembroke Hill School from 1970 until retiring in 2001.
Upon retirement, Tony would join The Heart of America Barber Shop Chorus, serving as the president for 2 years. He also was a member of the New Harmony Handful Chorus where he served as the chorus manager.
On October 27, 2007, Tony married Betsy and they resided in Gladstone, Missouri. Together they would travel to many chorus competitions throughout the country. Their home was always filled with pets and visitors, both family and friends.
Tony loved to fish. golf, watch baseball and football, and was passionate about music. He was a member of The Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church Kansas City, Missouri.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William “Bill” Strub.
Tony is survived by his wife, Betsy; his daughters, Teresa Strub and Cheryl Christensen; stepchildren, Robin (Scott) Windell, Deborah (Kevin Lashinsky) Fletcher, Mary Fletcher, Bonnie (JJ) Boudreaux, and Tim Fletcher; step-grandchildren, Hannah, Rachael, Sam, Robert, and Claire; two nephews, Gary (Tina) Strub and Brian (Melissa) Strub; and a niece, Roxanne Strub.
Tony touched many lives. He is loved and will be greatly missed.
