Tony was born on July 10, 1939, in Kansas City, Missouri to Alfonso G. and Carmen Ascensio. Tony was a graduate of Northeast High School in 1957. Tony enlisted the United States Naval Air Station in Olathe, 1956, then went to active duty in the United States Navy in 1957, and was stationed on the aircraft carrier, CVA-16 USS Lexington until 1959. After an honorable discharge, Tony married his life-long sweetheart, Joyce (whom he met when he was 12 and she was 9 years old!). They moved into Kansas City’s Northland in 1963.
Tony worked as a paint inspector for the General Motors Company, where he retired after 31 years of dedicated service. For the next 31 years Tony spent his retirement traveling with Joyce, working on maintenance projects around his house, serving in his church, and working with Neighbors Helping Neighbors in his neighborhood, Woodbrooke. He also enjoyed creating wonderful memories, and memorable traditions with his two children, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Tony has reunited with his late father and mother, Alfonso & Carmen Ascensio along with his brother, recently deceased, Carlos Ascensio.
