Gene was born in Colorado Springs, CO to Arley Franklin and Hazel Werremeyer, on September 4, 1943. He graduated from Raytown High School in 1963. He married Rebecca Donnell on May 25, 1968. They lived in Raytown, MO for 49 years, moving to Gladstone, MO in 2017. They have two children, Richard (Alison) Werremeyer and Kimberly (John) Kern. They have 6 grandchildren; Noah, John Luke, Micah, Sarah, Jackson, and Isabella. His grandchildren remember him as a kind, gentle, and supportive grandfather, who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Gene was very active in his church and often participated in men’s groups and prayer groups. He was a dedicated individual who loved the LORD, and was passionate about serving others. He was a fervent prayer warrior. He was a dedicated member of Antioch Bible Baptist Church, and he volunteered often.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Arley and Hazel; his grandson, John Luke; and his sister, Carol Jines. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Werremeyer; his children and their families, Richard and Kim; two brothers, Stanley and Linnel Werremeyer; as well as many nieces and nephews.
