Austin was born on June 15, 1993, to Jerry and Tiffany Brooks of Trimble, MO. He was their first-born child. He was followed by his sister Haley in 1995 and his brother Jason in 1997. As a child, Austin’s favorite thing to do was hang out in the garage or ride in the big trucks with his Papa Jerry. Austin learned to operate heavy machinery before he could write.
Austin played baseball and soccer for many years, but anything with a motor, 4-wheels, and some mud beat sports any time. Austin was a gifted mechanic, although he hated to fix things that other people broke. He kept his tools and car parts pristine, but his bedroom a disaster.
Austin was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes at the age of 14. In 2021, Austin’s kidneys failed, followed by many other health problems. Despite the pain Austin felt with every step he took; he did his best to continue working and remain independent.
Austin graduated from Liberty North High School in 2012. He also attended Vo-Tech for Diesel Mechanics. He had a close circle of friends who became family. Gavin, BJ, Dalton, Dylan, Sean, Vince, Tyler, and Josh were all considered “bonus kids” to the family. At the time of his death, Austin was employed by the City of Kansas City in the Aviation Department as a Maintenance Mechanic.
Austin was an old soul. He loved old country music, muscle cars and square-body Chevys. He was old-man grumpy unless you were talking to him about something that interested him. But more than anything, he loved his son Corbin Lane who was born in 2018 to him and Nikki Whitney-Dahms. If Austin was not working or receiving medical treatment, he would be with his son. His biggest wish for Corbin was that he would be able to learn how to work on his own equipment and go fast.
Austin was preceded in death by his Papa Jerry Bledsoe, Grandma Mary Bledsoe, and his Papa Russell Brooks.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his son, Corbin Lane Brooks, and his bonus daughter Addilynn Grace Edwards. He is also survived by his parents Jerry and Tiffany Brooks, sister Haley (Tyler) Reynolds, and brother Jason Brooks. Grandparents Mike Doak and Nora Brooks, Uncles Jason Doak and Brian Brooks and his Aunts Mona Coe, Tracy Lane, and Kristen Joyner. His nieces and nephew Aubree, Paisley, and Jameson Reynolds as well as a bunch of other family members will also be remembering and missing Austin.
Visitation will be held on Friday September 27, 2024, from 5 - 7 PM at White Chapel Funeral Home, (6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO.)
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Jason Brooks, Gavin Smith, Billi ReCar, Dalton Dearing, Brad "BJ" Reikofski, Kris Claypole, Christian Slaughter, Tyler Hadley, and Tyler Reynolds.
