Barry A. Bates, 45, of Desoto passed away December 3, 2015. Barry loved kayaking, camping, rock climbing, climbing trees and anything outdoors. He could build a bonfire you could see from the moon. He had an uncanny knack for being able to find a four leaf clover anywhere. He was a loving father, and loved to be around children, as he was a big one himself. Some of his best companions were four legged friends. He would help anyone, anytime, for any reason, at the drop of a hat. Barry lived for anything that promised an adventure. He is survived by his mother, Linda Rankin (Robert “Crash” Johnson); brother, Brian Bates (Michelle “Miki”); fiancé, Sara Turner; son, Harley Bates; step-daughters, Mayah Bryant and McKinzy Bryant; ex-wife and best friend, Stephanie Bates; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and hundreds of people who loved him dearly. A memorial visitation will be held at White Chapel Funeral Home December 12 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial donations be made to the March of Dimes Bikers for babies, as Barry was an avid supporter.
