

She was born November 23, 1933, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Mike and Mary Lanza. Bernice graduated from Northeast High School. After high school, she worked in Kansas City for Mercantile Bank where she met her husband, William Raymer. They were married 62 years. She was a homemaker and raised their two daughters. Bernice worked in the cafeteria at Oakwood Manor Elementary and then went to work at Davis Paint until she retired.
Growing up, she was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church and then later became a member of Northminster Presbyterian in Kansas City. She loved attending her grandchildren’s activities and sporting events, and got to be known as Grandma Bernie by many of their friends. She was also known for making the best Italian cookies in town and was adored by her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Kevin) Williams and Lori (Tim) Asby; her grandchildren, Bryan (Emylee) Williams, Tyler (Chelsey) Asby, Mallory (Jordan) Gooch and Lauren (Corey) Pfaff; five great grandchildren, Penelope Williams, Beckham and Henry Gooch, Autumn and Reid Asby.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Raymer; three siblings, Carline Moore, Marie Manillo and Ben Lanza.
Funeral services for Bernice will be held Monday, February 19, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Newcomer's White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, Missouri, 64119, with burial to follow in the White Chapel Cemetery. Following the funeral, family will visit and greet people around 3:00 PM during a celebration of life.
The family requests no flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church, Northminster Presbyterian Church, North Kansas City Hospital or to Harvesters Food Bank.
