Betty Nell Powers, 91, of Avondale, MO passed away July 19, 2014. Funeral services will be 2pm, Thursday, July 24, 2014 at White Chapel Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and grandchild, Dana Spry. Survivors include children, Lelia Porter of Liberty, MO; Linda Parsons of Kansas City, MO; Barbara Warren (David) of Kansas City, MO; Kenneth “Butch” Johnson (Lynette) of Avondale, MO; Betty Jean Powers (Craig) of Smithville, MO; 3 step-sons, Greg, Stan and Craig; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. Betty has lived in Avondale since 1958 and was known as the flower lady. She loved to cook, go to the casino, was the best pie maker around, and enjoyed spending time with the Sunshine Biscuit Retirees Group for lunch. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her; family meant everything. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Salvation Army as she donated her time for years.
