On September 17th, 2021, at the age of 72, our dear, sweet Beverly (Bevy) Ann Leslie passed peacefully into God’s loving arms with her beloved sister and niece by her side. Despite a life of hardship, and a prolonged battle with MS, she was ~ nevertheless ~ both a beacon of light and an inspiration to those around her. Ever the social butterfly, she had a generous and open heart, winning smile and a mischievous twinkle in her eye; people were drawn to her like moths to a flame. She not only made friends wherever she went…she both found and inspired joy in all those she met.
Born in Le Mars, IA on August 8th, 1949, to Joe & Connie, she lived in St. Paul, Denver, San Jose, Portland and Palm Springs before joining her brother, Norm, In Kansas City. She is predeceased by the love of her life – husband, Roy Leslie; her parents, Eugene (Joe) Cockrell and Constance (Connie) Cockrell; brother, Norm Cockrell; sister-in-law, Bev (Robinette) Cockrell and step-son, Rob Carter.
She is survived by her sister, Donna (Chuck) Harstad, step-daughter, Chrystal (Rob) Carter, many beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins… and numerous cherished friends. While she will be sorely missed, we take solace in knowing she is finally at peace, surrounded by loved ones who passed before her.
There will not be a service at this time; we will have a Celebration of Life at a later date and will update our memorial website with that information as soon as we have it. Memorials may be sent to either the MS Society or Twelve Apostles Catholic Church of Platte City, MO.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.dwnwhitechapel.com for the Leslie family.
