Billy was born in Hollister, Missouri on December 30, 1936 to Herbert and Ida Bell (Young) Davis. He was a 1955 graduate of Hollister High School where he was active on the softball (pitcher) and basketball teams as well as racing stock cars. After high school, Billy moved to the Kansas City area and started in the workforce. Billy retired from CertainTeed Manufacturing after 30 years of service. On December 29, 1956, he would marry Norma Lee Ward and together they would start a journey together that would include traveling and camping, living in Arizona during the winter months. Billy was a member of a band playing the electric guitar. However, what gave him the greatest joy was being with his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He was an avid fan and sports enthusiast, especially for the Kansas City Royals, the Kansas City Chiefs, and MU sports.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Janice, Betty Joe, and Mary Alice; an infant brother.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Norma (Ward) Davis; two daughters, Candace Gorman and Tonya (Christopher) Lautenschlager; sister, Joyce Davis; grandchildren, Jeremy (Stephanie) Lafferty, Alexis Gorman, Caleb (Amy) Lautenschlager, Olivia Gorman, Joshua Lautenschlager; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Lafferty and Collin Lafferty.
