She was born June 20, 1941, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Charles L. and Irene (Warren) Howard. She graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1959 and attended the University of Kansas.
Carol was married to Donnie Wade who, in 2007, preceded her in death.
Carol began work at Trans World Airlines (later acquired by American) in 1960 and held many positions, including as an analyst at the time of her retirement in 2005. She made and enjoyed many friendships at the airline and was forever grateful for them. She likewise made many other enduring friendships away from work.
Carol had an engaging personality and enjoyed spending time with friends while traveling, going to various estate, farm, and flea market sales, and dining out. She loved family gatherings, particularly around holidays. She particularly loved her home and surrounding property and enjoyed being outside most of the year tending to them. She also enjoyed motorsports to which Donnie introduced her. She was not shy in asserting her distinct personality and opinions, as all who knew her could appreciate. She cherished caring for countless cats during her adult life. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Kansas City, Missouri.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Charles L. and Irene Howard; and her husband, Donnie Wade.
Carol is survived by her brother, David W. (LeAnn) Howard; step-daughter, Kelly Wade; brother-in-law, Gary Wade; nephew, Judson (Sarah) Howard; niece, Elizabeth (Andrew) Jordan; five great nephews/nieces and many Howard cousins.
For their dedicated care, efforts and support over a lengthy period, sincere appreciation and gratitude is extended to friends Bonnie Gray, Barbara Geer, Lloyd Martin and Ann Lasater, family members Kelly Wade and Gary Wade and the extended Howard, Jordan and Kitts families. Sincere thanks also to the staffs and volunteers of McCrite, Ignite, Benton House, Tiffany Springs and Harbor House Hospice.
