Catharina Johanna van Zelm Miller, an 87 year old former Kansas City, MO resident, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2022 at the Baptist Home in Chillicothe, where she had resided for the past two years.
Mrs. Miller was born on August 16, 1935 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands the daughter of Jan Pieter and Margaretha (Groen) van Zelm. She had a very full and rich life. She grew up during WWII in occupied Holland with nine brothers and sisters. She met the love of her life, Nathan Paul Miller, in 1954. After they were married in Amsterdam, she sailed to America to start her new life in a new country. She was proud to become a U.S. citizen and embraced the American life. She earned her G.E.D. and later became a Taper Operator at Container Packaging. She was a master gardener, loved to travel, and enjoyed operas and classical music.
Survivors include her children, M. Janell Burton (Marty), Les P. Miller, Kelly L. Miller (Tammy), and Shannon M. Hogue (Jason), twelve grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan P. Miller, her parents, nine siblings, and two grandchildren.
