

Cecilia June Grant (nee Stewart) 93, peacefully passed on Friday, July 4, 2014 at the NorthCare Hospice House of North Kansas City, Missouri. She lived in the Kansas City area for 4 years and, prior to that, was a longtime resident of Casper, Wyoming. She was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on December 2, 1920 to Millard H. and Alice Grace Stewart. The family moved to Lander, Wyoming where she graduated from the Fremont County Vocational High School. She also attended the Colorado Women’s College in Denver, Colorado. On March 31, 1941, she and Melvin B. Grant were married in Denver before moving to California. During World War II, she worked in Civil Service at Sheppard Field, Texas and Denver, while her husband was serving in the Army. In 1949, her family moved from California to Casper, Wyoming, where she resided until 2010. She worked full time for the Casper Star Tribune newspaper, from 1949 to 1972, as secretary to the publisher and manager for national advertising. She worked part time for the newspaper until 1995. She was an active member of the Benevolent, Protective Order Of Does, # 38 Casper Drove. During her service time in the Drove, she served as Secretary for 5 years. She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church of Casper. She is preceded, in death, by her husband, mother, step-father and father. She is survived by Stewart M. Grant (son), Marlene E. Grant (daughter in-law) and Laura M. Grant (granddaughter). At her request, no services are planned.
