Charlie F. Viles

Charles (“Charlie”) Freeman Viles, 71, born in Kansas City, Kansas passed away peacefully at his home on September 3, 2026 after a courageous and long-fought battle with cancer and the after-effects of radiation. Charlie dedicated much of his professional life to working in law enforcement which he retired from and then transitioned to a successful career in investigative insurance fraud. Known for his intelligence, strong work ethic, and dedication to justice, he earned the respect of colleagues and community members alike.

He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother, and his presence will be deeply missed. Charlie had a great passion for family life, home projects, gardening, and boating. He could often be found tackling various home projects and lovingly maintaining his garden. First and foremost though, he was dedicated to taking care of and supporting his family, whether that was lending a listening ear, grilling out for the family, attending any and all school events, fixing a broken dishwasher, or bringing a coffee to his wife Pam before a hard shift at work. He will be remembered for his persevering spirit, his quiet strength, and his steadfast presence as an anchor for those he knew and loved.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 34 years, Pamela Viles; their daughters Brenna Houston and Bethany Viles; his daughters from a previous marriage, Carissa Keen and Kathy McIntosh; his grandchildren Adalynn Houston, Samuel Houston, Kimber Knight, Emma Hribovsek, Lily McIntosh; his sisters Loyce Turpin, Cheryl Viles, and Rochele Weilert; and his sister-in-law Becky Viles along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Viles; his mother, Marjorie Viles; and his brother, Tracy Viles.

A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held at Newcomer’s White Chapel Funeral home on September 8, 2026 at 2 p.m starting with a visitation and proceeding to the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. The family invites all who knew him to attend. He will be greatly missed.
