Chris graduated from Oak Park High School in 1998. Afterward, he joined the United States Marine Corps until he was honorably discharged in 2003. He then attended the Police Academy and had served as a police officer until his passing.
Serving his community was Chris's ultimate goal in life. Chris joined the Westwood, Kansas Police Department in 2012 and considered working there as his ultimate job.
"As a highly respected patrol officer, motor officer, field training officer and mentor, he shaped the lives of countless people in the community and was recognized across the Department for his integrity and unmatched work ethic," Westwood Police said. "Colleagues knew him as a steady presence and trusted teammate."
Chris is preceded in death by his father, Leroy Bishop. He is survived by two daughters, Isabella and Alex Bishop; a son, Cody Bishop; his mother, Debbie Bishop; and his grandmother, Ellie Hayden.
Visitation will be held 10-11:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 13, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:30 a.m. at Newcomer's White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd., Gladstone, MO 64119.
