Born on March 16, 1969, at NKC Hospital to Basil and Patricia (Gunn) Economou, Dale was a spirited and boisterous presence from the start. He was a proud Pisces who approached life with a friendly, clever, and always helpful demeanor. He attended North Kansas City High School for 2 years, where he played football before transferring his junior year to graduate from Oak Park High School in 1987.
A true "gear head," Dale’s passion for speed and machinery began early, building model cars and go-karts before moving on to muscle cars and motorcycles. In his twenties, he channeled his love for 70s and 80s hard rock by playing bass guitar in a rock band. His adventurous spirit and love for the open road led him to a career as an over-the-road trucker, a job that took him on memorable journeys. He cherished trips to his favorite Florida beaches, enjoyed exploring Greek eateries, and had exciting opportunities to test ride Sea-Doos for clients in the U.S. and Ski-Doos in Canada. His travels even extended to the scenic landscapes of Alaska. A highlight of his life was street racing Nicholas Cage’s yellow Lamborghini at the Detroit International Auto Show.
Dale is survived by his parents, Basil and Patricia, of Gladstone; his brother and sister-in-law, Chad and Kelly, of Gladstone; his sister, Melissa, of KCMO; and his nephew, Shaun Lacey II, of KCMO.
A Celebration of Life will be held at White Chapel Funeral Home, located at 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119, on November 29, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm.
