David Ellis Booth

David “Dave” Ellis Booth, died peacefully on Friday, April 6th, 2018 at the Missouri Veterans home in Cameron, at the age of 90.

Dave was born April 28th, 1927 in Cainsville, Missouri to Ross & Vernoye Booth. Dave lived in Cainsville , Mo until the 1st grade then his family moved to Camas Prairie, Idaho when his father lost his farm in the depression. After spending several years in Idaho his family moved back to Cainsville where Dave attended school throughout high school. Dave enlisted in the United States Navy as a senior in high school , and spent 39 years in the Navy Reserves.

Dave served his country in WWII, Korean War, and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Dave retired from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer in 1983 and continued to support his local VFW and American Legion. After the war, Dave returned home and worked as a movie projectionist in Cameron for several years until he moved to Kansas City in 1953. Dave worked for TWA for over 30 years and retired from there in 1986 as a Lead Inspector. Dave was a active member in his church, Barry Christian Church and always enjoyed serving others in his community. Some of Dave's passions were flying, mushroom hunting , and working in his garden.

Dave met his wife, Bette on a blind date and they married in April of 1957. Dave and Bette adopted their son, Kenneth in 1966 and soon after adopted their daughter, Michelle in August of 1969. Dave’s family was so important to him. They spent many family vacations driving across the country and enjoying time with extended family.

Dave is preceded in death by his wife, Bette of Smithville, Mo and his son Kenneth of Kansas City. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle(John) his 5 grandchildren, John Mann IV(Lindsey), Brittney Arreola(Jose) , Samantha Mann, Luz Mann, and Chris Wright(Sherri), as well as 5 great grandchildren.

David will have a full military funeral and Services will be held at White Chapel Funeral Home in Gladstone, Missouri on Saturday, April 14th starting at 2:00pm with a Visitation , followed by a Memorial service at 3:00 pm and Interment of ashes following. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Missouri Veterans Home of Cameron, Mo or City Union Mission.
