David graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1955. On April 6, 1956, he married Sharlyn Kay Snipes. Together, they built a life centered around family.
A hardworking and resourceful man, David owned several service stations throughout Kansas City, as well as a Kawasaki dealership. He later retired from Kansas City Piggyback. David could fix just about anything—often with a hammer—and his practical nature and determination served him well throughout his life.
David loved watching the Kansas City Royals and playing fantasy football with his family. Above all, he treasured his family and the many memories they created together. He lived with the assurance of salvation through his faith in Jesus Christ.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Edith Cheek; his wife, Sharlyn Kay Cheek; his son, David A. Cheek; and his great-grandson, Derrick Griffin.
He is survived by his daughters, Dawn Griffin, Dina Aubrey Gonner (Larry), and Dara Giuliani (Chris); his eight grandchildren, Michelle Fish, Alicia Jones (Austin), Billy Griffin (Rachel), Matthew Cheek, Wes Aubrey (Shara), Mia Cheek, Sofia Giuliani, and Lauren Giuliani; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Carroll Cheek, Joe Cheek, and Janet Johnson.
David leaves behind a loving family spanning four generations and a lifetime of memories that will continue to be shared. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
