David “Dave” Dow DeJarnette, 80, of Holt, MO passed away unexpectedly January 14, 2022, at North Kansas City Hospital. He was born December 12, 1941 in Kansas City, MO to James and Ruth (West) DeJarnette.
He graduated from Southeast High School in 1959 and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from CMSU in 1972. David honorably served in the US Army from 1966-1968 and was deployed to Vietnam. After working for TWA for 39 years in various Accounting positions, David retired on October 1, 2001, as a Supervisor of Property Accounting.
David enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, riding motorcycles, boating, skiing, camping, hunting and was very competitive at card games. He loved his pets, Jeeps and movies, especially westerns. He was a talented artist. David had a notorious sweet tooth - ice cream and homemade chocolate cookies were his favorite. He said, “I don’t cook”, but he made the most delicious brownies and meatloaf. He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, Grandpa Dave and “Poppie”.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mary Courter, and step-son, Andrew Enderson.
David is survived by his wife of 29 years, Cathy DeJarnette; daughter, Tara Yager of Parkville, MO, and her children, Lindsey, Brooke and Blake Yager; step-daughter, Nicole (Joseph) Napolitano of Smithville, MO, and their children, Julianna and Anthony Napolitano; granddaughters, Caitlin and Abigail Enderson; mother-in-law, Dorothy Leuty of Gladstone, MO; 5 sisters-in-law; 2 brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
