Debbie was born on Dec 21, 1958 in Kansas City, Missouri, to Milo and Evelyn Miller. She graduated from Winnetonka High School, Class of 1977, and later completed a Licensed Practical Nurse program. Debbie married Kevin Green and they had three children: Brianna Kathleen, Kaeli Anne, and Garett Miller. Her children remember that she could always put a smile on their faces. Debbie was a creative cook and loved making special school lunches for her kids, and, later, her grandkids. She loved history and going to garage sales. She worked in nursing homes for approximately 20 years and was passionate about treating her patients with respect, and they loved her very much. She was one of her father’s caregivers at the end of his life.
Debbie was preceded in death by her father, Milo. She is survived by her mother, Evelyn Miller; her sisters Myla Miller and Rebecca Miller, Kansas City, MO and her sister Patti Smith (husband Steven), Kearney, MO; her nephew Stetson Smith and her niece Sage Smith; and her cherished grandchildren: Blayz, Cain, Raynei, Thurlin, Lynck, Mylo, Addie Rose, Charlie, Kaelianne, Grace, and Claire Mae.
Visitation will be held on April 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 2003 NE Englewood Road, Kansas City, MO. The Rite of Christian Burial will take place at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, at 12:00 p.m. A light lunch will be served at Holy Cross after the burial. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Debbie’s life.
The family thanks Debbie’s hospice nurse, Jen, and her social worker, Julie; also the congregations of Holy Cross Lutheran, Our Savior Lutheran, St. Paul’s Lutheran, and North Hills Baptist Church for their prayers. Debbie often said that she could feel those prayers, and she was very grateful for them.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Kansas City Hospice.
