Debora Marie (Burnell) Jones (aka Debbie), born May 5, 1956, on Cinco De Mayo, in Kansas City, Missouri to Samuel Joseph Burnell and Rose Marie (Stone) Burnell, and left this world to be with her parents in the early morning hours of New Year’s Eve, 2020.
Debbie graduated from Liberty High School and took pride in making her own clothing, prom dresses, and even her wedding dress. Her passion for sewing continued, as she made dresses for her sister Kathy (Burnell) Walker, as well as Indianette uniforms and Touch of Class costumes for her daughter Tammera Renee Winter in high school, and Halloween costumes and scrub hats for her daughter Jacqueline Mae Jones.
On June 20, 1974, Debbie Married her high school sweetheart, Randal Dean Jones, to whom she was married for 46 years. They lived in Liberty for a short time, then moved to Independence, Missouri where they raised their two beautiful daughters, Jacqueline Mae & Tammera Renee. Debbie actively attended Wellington-Napoleon Christian Church in Wellington, Missouri, for many years. She loved helping others and always put the needs of others before her own. She worked for Hallmark and retired after 35 years of service.
In her youth, Debbie played softball and enjoyed bowling. Her other hobbies included fishing with her hubby, camping, being in her pool, traveling, eating out with family, watching Kansas City Chiefs and Mizzou games, and Mixed Martial Arts. She also loved fake purple flowers, lighthouses, bears with “cute faces only,” blue vases and a was true dog lover. More than anything, Debbie loved her three grandbabies: Matthew Dean Ireland (27), Tristan James Winter (13), and Jessy Renee Winter (11). She continued to have a strong faith in Jesus Christ and shared daily devotionals with her younger grandbabies.
Debbie will always be remembered as a feisty and stubborn. She did not care what others thought and she was her own worst critic. She always said love was conditional and you always knew where you stood with her. You did not want to be on her bad side, but even if you were, she would have an occasional change of heart.
Deb Deb, Debbie, Gram Gram, Grandma, Mommy, Mother, MommaBear and Sissy will always be loved and will be missed by so many. She will always be in our hearts and in our heads, giving her input on what to do.
