Dennis was born on January 17, 1944, in Carthage, MO to Oscar Carl Kienzle and Hester Katherine Palmer. He graduated from The University of Missouri, Columbia, MO in 1972 with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering.
In his youth, he was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America and achieved the highest title of Eagle Scout.
Dennis married his beautiful young bride Brenda West on July 31, 1965. The two newlyweds spent their first year of marriage living in France during his time in the United States Army as a Topographic Draftsman and was also a member of the Honor Guard. After returning to the states, Dennis and Brenda moved to Kansas City, Missouri. After completing his degree at MU, Dennis began working for Black and Veatch, then Occidental Petroleum, and retiring from Hallmark Cards as a Project Manager in 2001.
Dennis and Brenda had two daughters, Rochelle and Tricia. His children remember him as a caring, generous and loving father who encouraged them to pursue their goals and dreams in life. Dennis was able to fix almost anything and often could be found buying the next tool for his “projects” that he needed. He was a dedicated individual who loved his family more than anything. He was a lifelong fan of Missouri Tigers football, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Kansas City Royals. If Dennis was not spending time with his family and fixing something around the house at Lake Waukomis, he was finding projects at the family’s lake home on Table Rock Lake. He never met a stranger and made everyone he met, feel like a friend. He was never at a loss for words and was the ultimate storyteller. He loved to share life advice, stories of his adventures at Table Rock, updates about his family and debate current events. His greatest pride was the success of his two children and the joy of two grandsons, that he loved dearly.
Dennis is preceded in death by father, Oscar Carl Kienzle; mother, Hester Katherine Kienzle; brothers, Oscar Kienzle, William Kienzle, Robert Kienzle, George Kienzle, Thomas Kienzle; and sisters, Emma George, Clara Fenske.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 57 years, Brenda Kienzle; daughter, Rochelle Olmedo (Rodney, son-in-law); daughter, Tricia Wright (Derek, son-in-law); and two grandsons, Lukas Olmedo and Mason Olmedo.
The family would like to thank all of St. Luke’s Kansas City and St. Luke’s Hospice House’s doctors, nurses and staff for all their dedication, care and compassion.
A celebration of life for Dennis will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newcomer's White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, Missouri.
