Diane was born in Denver, Colorado, on October 12, 1945 and lived in the mountains of Evergreen, Colorado until she later moved to Kansas City with her mother, Ruth and stepfather, Bill Beach. Diane graduated from North Kansas City High School where she was also a member of Job’s Daughters.
Fred and Diane were married on November 27, 1963. Early in their marriage, Diane worked various jobs as she and Fred prepared a home for the family they dreamed of starting. Her job as a full-time mom and homemaker soon became her calling. Quick to realize her love for children, Diane worked throughout the years with children both in her home and at church. Diane worked at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church for 12 years. This included teaching at Mother’s and Children’s Day Out, which brought her great joy. Diane supported her children by volunteering with their various activities and organizations throughout their school careers. She also volunteered for the Pleasant Valley Civic Organization and served as treasurer for many years. Diane was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church for over 50 years.
Diane began working for the Clay County Clerk’s office in the early 90’s and retired August 12, 2013. She loved the quality time retirement afforded her to enjoy her greatest love… her family. She lived her life to be the best wife, mother and grandmother she could be by instilling values and love in each of us. She valued family and quality time more than anything and loved spending time with her grandchildren most of all. Diane also loved spending time with long-time friends and her friends in Christ from their Sunday School Class. They traveled, cruised, and enjoyed great fellowship together over the years.
She is survived by her stepdaughter, Connie Burrow (Todd) of Liberty, daughter Deborah Phillips, son Troy Phillips (Andrea) all of Kansas City. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Corben and Camryn Phillips and Collin Boldridge, Tyler and Hannah Burrow, sister Linda Evans (Ken) and brothers David, Terry, and Richard Beach, all of Kansas City.
Diane was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Fred Phillips, Mother (Ruth Beach), Stepfather (Bill Beach) and brother (Bobby Beach).
The world will be a lesser place for those of us that loved her, but for all that had the privilege of having her as a part of our lives, we are better for the time that was spent with her.
