

Edgar William Fisher of Basehor, KS passed away at age 74 at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, MO on March 3, 2024. He was born November 29, 1949 in Kansas City, MO. The only child of William Walter Fisher, and Letha Leah (Heldenbrand) Fisher, he married Wanda Kay Ham in June of 1969. The couple had three children: Lisa McCool, Shelley Brooks Mueting, and Eric Fisher.
Eddie grew up in Emporia, KS, and graduated high school in 1968. He married his high school sweetheart, Wanda in 1969, and was drafted by the US Army several days later. He served from July 1969- July 1971, and was a member of a Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol in Vietnam. He was awarded many honors, including a Purple Heart, and two Bronze Stars for his service.
Eddie worked as a railroad conductor and retired with 41 years of service, for the ATSF and BNSF Railways. The couple raised their 3 children in Emporia, and moved to Basehor, KS in 1992. They moved to Gladstone, MO in 1997, and then back to the Basehor community in 2018.
Eddie is preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Leslie and Verla Ham, and son-in-law Ryan Brooks.
He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda, of the home; his daughters, Lisa McCool (Max) of Kansas City, MO; Shelley Mueting (Brian) of Osage City, KS; and son, Eric Fisher of Belton, MO; along with 13 grandchildren: Lauren Burrough (Jarred), Jackson Pasquith, Tate Brooks, Kenneth Fisher, Logan Fisher, Acelynn Baldwin (Gabe), Logan McCool, Mason Fisher, Braden McCool, Raini Mueting, Peyton Mueting, Brenn Mueting, and Taggart Mueting. He has one great-grandchild, Charlotte Burrough, and a great-grandson due in March of this year.
Throughout life, Eddie enjoyed being active in church, Girl Scouts, VFW, and Patriot Guard. His greatest joy in life was the family he created with his loving wife, and they enjoyed many trips, experiences, and celebrations together. He enjoyed travel with the Seairlan World Tours group, attending high school reunions, and keeping up with Facebook friends. The family extends special thanks to the numerous medical professionals who were a part of Eddie’s care, during his ongoing health battles from Agent Orange exposure.
Visitation is at Newcomer's White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, MO at 1pm, with Celebration of Life service directly following at 2pm, on Friday, March 15, 2024. A graveside memorial will be held at Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery, 2000 Prairie St, Emporia, KS on Saturday, March 16th at 1pm.
Serving as pallbearers are Jackson Pasquith, Tate Brooks, Kenneth Fisher, Logan Fisher, Logan McCool, Mason Fisher and Braden McCool.
