Elizabeth "Chip" Brainard

Elizabeth “Chip” Crawford Brainard of Kansas City, Missouri died on July 12, 2025. Chip was the daughter of Raymond and Nora Crawford of Germantown, NY. She grew up in Germantown and graduated from Germantown Central School in 1961. In 1965 she graduated from SUNY Oswego with a degree in Elementary Education.

Chip moved to Missouri in 1968 and raised her family in and around Kansas City. She was the beloved Director of the Longview Community College Child Care Center, Lee’s Summit, MO for 25 years. And while her sons, Stephen and Christopher were growing up, Chip was known as “my other Mom” to many of their friends - she loved to have them at her house and loved to cook for them.

Chip is survived by her son, Stephen Brainard, her daughter-in-law, Katie Brainard and her two grandsons, Tyler and Max. She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses, Leland Crawford and wife Linda; Ellen Crawford Phelan and husband Sam; Raymond Crawford and wife Bettsy; Timothy Crawford and wife Kathy; David Crawford and wife, Yvonne; and Denis Crawford and wife Janet. Chip was predeceased by her son Christopher.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
