Frederick Alan Gollier

Born in Ottawa, Kansas on February 6, 1942, "In one of the few best years to be born in the USA", he would say. Born to parents Dr. Robert Addison Gollier and Nelle Marshall Barnhill Gollier, Fred grew up in Ottawa, graduating from Ottawa High School in 1960. He attended Kansas University in Lawrence, Kansas, was a member of the Beta Theta Pi, and later, Theta Nu Epsilon. After his junior year, he married Carol Rae Schaum of Kirkwood, Missouri, and they graduated together in the spring of 1964. His wife died of leukemia that same year and after a year of ill-attended classes at K.U.'s School of Law, he was off to U.S. Navy Officer Candidate School. His four years of service included two years aboard the USS Duluth LP06 which operated off the coast of Vietnam as a member of an amphibious task force and his final two years as a naval recruiter in Omaha, Nebraska, where he became a full lieutenant and served as Casualty Assistance Calls Officer.

He married Mary Ann Henning, also from Ottawa, in 1969. The same year he spent five months on Wall Street in New York City, training for what would become his lifetime profession. After five years, his marriage ended in divorce. In 1975, he married Neysa Gail Swaggerty, who, along with her six-year-old son, Bill, became the loves of his life. Fred spent 50 years in the brokerage industry and enjoyed immensely the relationships he had with his many clients.

An avid golfer and hunter in his younger years, fishing became his passion as his relationship with his son Bill strengthened. Fred's brother, Bud, a retired physician, found a cabin on an island on Great Slave Lake in the Northwest Territory where he spent many of his best times.

Fred was preceded in death by his beloved parents, and a sister, Jane Marshall, who died in 1965 at the age of 21 of Hodgkin's disease.

Fred thanks his many friends for being such an important part of his life. Those that are left know who you are.

He leaves, Gail, his wife of 51 years, his son Bill and his wife Holly, and two grandsons, Grant, age 27, and Brenner, age 23. His brother, Bud, wife Mary Lynn, nephews Dr. Bo and Dr. John, and niece Sarah Jane Raine and family.

Fred's final words: "Rock Chalk!"
