One of five children born to father, Heikichi, and mother, Take, in Yokosuka, Japan. Fumiko was a natural leader, creative, and determined. She packed a lot of humor and sass into her 4' 9" frame. (Although she was proud to have reached a full 4' 10" and a HALF in her younger years!)
While working in Yokosuka near the US Navy Base, Fumiko's chance meeting with American Sailor, Louis P. Henry, set her life on an exciting course of marriage, family, and global travel. Fumiko and Louis had two children, Tonya and Howard. Together with their young children, as a life-long Air Force family, they lived in Germany, Montana, Guam, and Florida. After retiring from the Air Force, Louis and Fumiko settled in Kansas City where they enjoyed watching their children raise their own families.
Engaged and creative, she delighted her loved ones with impeccable projects in cooking, sewing, and gardening. And even in her later years, she never missed her daily exercise.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Louis, in 2020. She is survived by her two children, Tonya (Jay), Howard (Barbara), four beloved grandchildren: Jana (Preetham), Keith (Kristin), Kyle (Chelsea), Craig (Alysa) as well as eight beautiful great-grandchildren.
Services will be held privately by the family. Please share memories and condolences on the White Chapel Funeral Home website.
