They lived in St. Joseph, Kansas City, and for a short time in Fort Smith, AR for Garney’s job. He enjoyed a 50 year long career in Retail Grocery, serving as a Buyer, General Merchandise Manager and Wine and Spirits Manager along with many other roles throughout the years. He worked for many different retailers, most recently retiring from Hy-Vee in 2018 after 25 years. He was best known for his kindness, infectious smile and loved training new employees.
Garney and Linda had three beautiful children, Angela Lakey, Sara Burns and Richard “Matthew” Hill. They remember him as a kind, thoughtful, funny father who enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing and especially hunting! He had a love of history, westerns and reading mysteries and loved to support his children in all their endeavors.
