He was born on Dec. 28, 1950 in Independence, MO to Clarence and Opal Class. He graduated from Oak Park High School in 1969, but not before marrying Brenda Boydston, his wife of 52 years. He began working at Ford Motor Company for a year and then served in the Air Force from 1970-1974. While in Cheyenne, WY, a bundle of joy was delivered and Michael Class was born. When Gary’s duties were completed, Brenda, Gary and Michael moved back to Kansas City where Gary returned to work at Ford.
1979 brought another bundle of joy when their son Jeffery was born. While he was passionate about Ford and his work there from the line to Employee Resource Coordinator, he was most passionate about his family, and the fun that came with them. Many weekends were spent on building projects around the house, or someone else’s house, coaching his son’s little league teams, leading many years as cub master, scout master and chaperoning church youth group trips. He served as a deacon at Northgate Baptist church for many years and was well-loved by the Sunday School class he attended regularly.
Gary was quick-witted and jovial; making him the perfect Santa Claus for many Ford events and countless other events. He never met a friend he didn’t like and often ran into new friends everywhere he went.
Gary is survived by His wife, Brenda, his oldest son Michael and wife Kim, and grandchildren Zach and Jake. His youngest son Jeffery and wife, Lindsay and grandchildren Nate and Jovie. His older brother, Donald and wife Patsy.
