Genene was born in Columbus, Nebraska on April 20th, 1965 to Luke and Theresa (Zach) Wieser.
Best known for having the voice of an angel to all those lucky enough to hear her sing. Genene loved singing with her Scotus High School Swing Choir (Class of ‘83), Chorale and Cantari Show Choirs at Platte Central Community College (Class of 85’) in Nebraska, and St. Charles Parish Choir (as “Head Shirelle”) for 20 years and St. Patrick’s Parish Choir for the past five years here in Kansas City, but none so much as her beloved, musical family as a life-long member of the “Wieser Family Singers”.
Genene was proud of working her way through college. She graduated from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln with B.S. in Textiles, Merchandising & Fashion Design in 1987 and moved to Kansas City to start her career at Macy’s Department Store. She loved working as a singing waitress at a couple of dinner theaters, Waldo Astoria & The New Theater. Genene traveled a diverse path of careers from warehouse work to small business owner and sold everything from fax machines to funeral plans, binders for presentations to books for charity, body and beauty gift sets, and finally office furniture. Ultimately, she felt blessed to have landed with a company she loved, National Office Furniture as District Manager. Of her many awards and accomplishments, two recent prestigious awards she was particularly proud of were “The Excellence in Performance” award and the “Million $ Challenge” award.
Christmastime of 1990, Genene met her future husband of nearly 25 years; he was walking out, and she was walking in… he stepped aside to let her and 3 friends walk in… he went back in. They were married in the Summer of 1993. Genene cherished her children, Meghan (20) and Kyle (18). She said just last week how she loved the new, mother and young adult relationship that was developing between her and Meghan. She is very proud of the brilliant young man Kyle is becoming as he prepares to start college in the Fall.
Genene was our guiding light, our rock, and our love. We will miss her laugh, dry sense of humor, strong willed drive and most of all… her smile.
