Jean was born June 3, 1922 in Steelville, Missouri to Rolland and Charity (Graddy) Mallow.
Jean was self-taught and resilient growing up through the Depression Era. During WW II, she along with many other women, were recruited for the war effort to work as a welder working on Navy battleships. On February 17, 1978, she married Victor “Vic” Straub in Gladstone, Missouri. Jean was also a very talented seamstress working in the KC area for numerous years.
She was an active member of Faubion Methodist Church participating in many of the social groups. Jean loved her family, fishing, crocheting, gardening, cooking, canning, and square dancing. Her family recalls the many life lessons she would pass along.
Jean is survived by her granddaughter, Wendy; great grandson, Brendon; two brothers, Bob Mallow and Merrion Mallow; many nieces; nephews; great nieces; great nephews; friends; and neighbors.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wiley Chandler; her second husband, Victor “Vic” Straub; her daughter, Janice Brown; grandson, Jeffrey Williams; her brothers, Kenneth Mallow, Richard Mallow, and Morris Mallow.
