Harry C. "Bud" Edwards, Jr., 92, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024. Born May 29, 1931 to Harry C. and Mildred (Hilden) Edwards in Boonville, Missouri. In 1949, he married Dorothy Marie Creasy. In 1955, Bud moved to North Kansas City with his wife and daughter, Cathy Elizabeth. Bud and Dorothy divorced in 1957. On August 25, 1961, Bud married Lucille Wiesedeppe Filger.
Bud was a successful businessman and entrepreneur involved in real estate and development in Clay and Platte counties including mobile home parks, banks, shopping centers, service station, and rental and farm real estate. Bud spent 24 years on the Kansas City Board of Zoning Adjustment, was an active member in Lakewood Terrace Park Neighbor Association, Citizens Association, North Kansas City Breakfast Club, Clay County Development Commission, Ararat Shrine Temple, Oriental Shrine Club and Clay County Sheriff's Posse. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lucille of 50 years, two sisters, Mary Wiemholt and Helen Humfeld. Survivors include his daughter Cathy (Ray) Aslin of Manhattan, KS; step-son Dennis Filger of Crystal River, FL; grandchildren Kady (Steve) Werner of Overland Park, KS, Lucas (Christina) Aslin Manhattan, KS, Paul (Amanda) Aslin of Manhattan, KS, Adam (Amanda) Aslin of Manhattan, KS, Robert Filger of Dingman's Ferry, PA, and Jennifer (Jon) Hunt of Crystal River, FL; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Bud will be held Monday, April 29, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119. A celebration of life will occur Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 11:00 AM at White Chapel Funeral Home.
