He attended school in Green City, Missouri and graduated from high school there. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. On April 9, 1952 he married Rosalie McClaren. On July 23, 1967 they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Janet.
Harvey worked and retired from General Motors after more than thirty years. Harvey was proud of his military service, and at the age of 88 went on a Honor Flight to Washington D.C. with his nephew, Thomas Boehner. Harvey was a member of the American Legion Post 61. Harvey's main hobby was woodworking holiday ornaments, bird houses, and ink pens, which he enjoyed making and giving to friends. Harvey was also an avid gardener. Harvey was a member of the McMurry United Methodist Church.
Special friends are Larry Boeschen, Carol and Ernie Eitel, Lea and Paul Riddle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosalie; his daughter, Janet; his brother Eldon Pratt, and his sister, Gladys (Pratt) Boehner.
He is survived by his nephews, Harold Pratt of Nevada, Iowa, and Thomas Boehner of Sedalia, Missouri; and his niece, Betty (Boehner) Beck of Red Wing, Minnesota.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to be made to the McMurry United Methodist Church.
A viewing for Harvey will take place Sunday, February 18, 2024 at 12 PM Newcomer's White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, MO 64119, followed by a Graveside Service officiated by Pastor Clayton A. Peak with Military Honors at 1 PM in White Chapel Cemetery.
