

Hazel (Haddie) Helena Ford, 104, passed away March 14, 2015 at New Mark Care Center. Hazel was born on July 31, 1910 in Atchison, KS. She was the daughter of William H. Ball and Mary R. Edwards. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and making her crafts, crocheting and sewing. She was involved in many organizations and groups that kept her very busy. She was a square dancer and belonged to the Stanley Steamer and the Mono-Railers and made many of the dresses. She played Pinochle and Bridge with her card groups monthly and was a Red Hatter. She was initiated on 12/8/1936 at her lodge Golden Link Rebekah Lodge IOOF #677 and was involved for 78 years. She was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church. She sold programs at the American Royal, traveling in the covered wagon, auctioneering and putting on her skits. She was most known for her Minnie Pearl. She was a jack-of-all-trades and there was nothing she could not do, she had a heart of gold and helped many of people in her life. Her door was always open! Hazel also had a home at the Lake of the Ozarks where fun was had by all whether it was boating, fishing, swimming or teaching you how to ski and of course eating! Hazel didn’t know a stranger and treated everyone as family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil F. Ford; parents; three brothers, Charles Ball, Mike Ball and William Ball and two sisters, Sylvia Ellis and Bobbie Jo Peterson. She is survived by a nephew, Bob Ellis; great niece, Sherry Teer (Terry); great-great niece, Ashley Thompson (Kyle) and a great-great-great niece, Rylee Thompson, along with numerous family and friends. Visitation will be held at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd., Gladstone, MO, from 1-2 PM on Thursday, March 19, 2015. Services will follow the visitation.
