Visitation will be held 10-11 a.m., Thursday, June 18 followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Newcomer's White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd., Gladstone, Missouri. Interment will follow at White Chapel Cemetery.
Homer was born April 2, 1936, in Appleton City, Missouri, the son of Lawrence and Josephine Pratt. He attended the University of Missouri and graduated from UMKC with a bachelor's degree in Sociology/Accounting. He met and married Barbara Richardson on June 14, 1969. They were happily married for 57 years.
Homer is preceded in death by a son, Joel, and his sister, Eleanor Jo Jones. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Timothy (Kate); grandchildren, Alex, Jacob, Samantha, Simon and Graham Pratt; brother-in-law, Burton Jones and nieces, Christina Leenders and Eleanor Doell.
He was a member of North Cross United Methodist Church and a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, Boy Scouts of America. He served many leadership roles in Boy Scout Troop 417, including Scoutmaster.
Homer retired in 2005 while working for Vance Brothers Asphalt. Previous employment included General Electric Co. and Bill Kaiser Sewing Machine, all in accounting positions. After retirement he prepared taxes for H&R Block.
Homer dearly loved his grandchildren and walking in Happy Rock Park. He loved nature and spending time on South Padre Island Beach building sand castles. He proudly served in the United States Air Force for 5 1/2 years. He served in England and Scotland.
