

James Peter “Pete” Breitenstein, 78, of Kansas City, MO passed away July 24, 2014. Visitation will be Sunday, July 27, 2014 from 4-6 pm, with Rosary at 4 pm, at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd., Gladstone, MO 64119. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 28 at 11 am at St. Charles Borromeo, 900 Shady Lane Drive, Kansas City, MO. James was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Carolyn Breitenstein; brother, George and loving wife, Janet. Survivors include children, Suzanne Searle (Joe), Becky Sparks (Joshua), Zachary Breitenstein (Carrie), and Ashley Thum (Nathan); grandchildren, Ryan and Adam Searle, Noah and Rachel Sparks, and Phoebe Breitenstein; sisters, Mary Livingston (Gene) and Carol Conran (John); and sister-in-law, Ollie Breitenstein. Pete served in the U.S. Navy and retired from Midland Lithographing in 2000. His favorite pastimes included his ski boat, stock car races, and his children’s events. His grandchildren loved to sit on Grandpa Pete’s lap and read stories. Pete dedicated himself to family and friends and loved to document their lives with his video camera.
