James Oscar Coffer

May 17, 1947 – July 15, 2025
Obituary of James Oscar Coffer
IN THE CARE OF

Newcomer’s White Chapel Funeral Home

James Coffer, 78, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on May 17, 1947, Jim dedicated his life to hard work, family, and the simple joys that brought him peace. He spent 43 years working at Bayer, where he was known not only for his dedication and strong work ethic, but also for his integrity and quiet leadership. His commitment to his work was matched only by the love he had for his family.

Jim was a devoted husband to Gretta Coffer, his beloved wife and partner in life. Together, they built a life centered on love and family. He was a proud father to Timothy Coffer (Angela), and Beth Sheahan (Marty), a cherished grandfather to Ashley Nading (Zach), Austin Coffer (Alex), Brooke Coffer, Brenna Coffer, Aubrey Coffer, Jacob Weaver (Bre), Kelsey Coale (Ben). He was also a great grandfather to Mason, and a second grandson is due in December.

His legacy lives on through them - in their laughter, strength, and shared stories of time spent together. Outside of work, Jim found joy in fishing, craftsmanship, and woodworking. Whether building something with his hands or simply enjoying the quiet of a morning on the deck drinking his coffee, he valued the beauty in simplicity.

Most of all, I was reassured every moment. Jim will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his unwavering kindness, and the quiet strength that made him the heart of his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, patience, and craftsmanship - one that will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

A private memorial will be held for close family and friends to celebrate Jim’s life and the impact he had on everyone who knew him.
