James was born near Holden, Missouri on November 2, 1944.
He served proudly in the US Army. After his service he went to work for Damon Pursell Construction Company hauling heavy equipment until his retirement.
James and his wife, Sybil loved to travel, especially on their motorcycle. He enjoyed being outside, camping, and drinking coffee with his friends every morning.
James was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Sybil (Smith) Day; his parents, Joseph and Georgenna (Gillespie) Day; his siblings, Victor Day, Carroll “Dutch” Day, and Rosella (Day) Hurshman; grandson, Brandon Chambers.
Survivors include his four daughters, Donna Fulton, Leslie (Kevin) Osborne, Dianna (Gary) Collins, and Della McElwee; two brothers, Keith (Ginny) Day and Joseph Day; nine grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
