Dave and I have great memories of our bowling with Jim. When we became seniors, we bowled together, on the same team, in a senior league. We had more laughs than anyone could hope to have in a lifetime. Jim was the greatest and we are proud to have called him our friend. Much love to Libby and family.

My sincere condolences to Libby and the family.   Jim will be missed dearly.  I knew Jim from GSA and worked for him a few years.   I have so many memories of parties at the Grand Saloon with Jim, Libby and Derek.  I think of you all often and pray God helps you and watches over you during this time of sorrow.   Much love to you all.  

For the Hoovers...
I was saddened to learn of Jim's passing but enjoy the memories of our times together. His and Dan's retirement party, nights on the deck. He was a good hearted person. You two had a great relationship!

Libby and Hoover family, so sorry to hear about Jim.  Many good memories working for Jim at GSA.  Had lots of fun playing on the GSA softball team and post -game beverages.  He will be missed.  Rest in peace Mr. Hoover.

This week, I am mourning my father’s death and celebrating his life, and a constant montage of memories come to mind: 
- his lightheartedness and laughter;
- his steadfast work ethic, which was borne of & forged by growing up on a farm and putting himself through college, and across 35 years of service with GSA managing our country’s federal buildings. It was his life’s work that supported our family and that I know he considered his way of also serving our country;
- his connection to our family farm, and deep roots in Kimeo. Although I’m the son who moved farthest away, because of him, I’ve always felt tied to and fortified by those strong roots and our proud family legacy.  I’ve always known where I came from.  

When I think of my father, I think of how he lived life on his own terms. 

I don’t ever remember seeing my father cry, but I will never forget his anguish when the doctors had given up hope that Jeff could survive his horrific car accident. It was in those darkest days, that I saw my father’s constancy & his faith. He never gave up - he prayed & believed & fought for Jeff. Through the years, Dad’s face would always light up as his heart swelled with pride and thanksgiving at all the miracles Jeff has accomplished. 

I remember my Dad’s competitive spirit and lifelong love of sports. He played multiple sports in high school; followed his beloved Chiefs, Royals and Jayhawks - even in the lean years.   He taught his sons to play to win, to play fair, and to be fierce competitors.  Dad taught me how to play baseball & basketball - & we even learned to play tennis together, first by reading about the rules in our encyclopedia! 

In all these ways, and countless others, I am my father’s son.  I can’t imagine a world without him in it. But, today, as always, I can feel his strength, his constancy and his unapologetic jest for life - and I hope those are traits he’s passed on to me - and part of him that I’ll carry with me, always.

We called Jim,  " HOOK". while he was a student at St. Benedict College.  We had a great weekend hosted by his folks in Greenleaf, we all pilled into our co-owned 41 Chev 4 door, with our Mounty dates, who were not to leave Atchison, went to dance in Marysville on our way to Hoover's.  We all returned safely & the Sisters never knew of our trip.

Libby and family. Words cannot  express how I'm feeling right now. My cup runneth over with all the memories with you two through the years. Prayers to ease your sorrow and strength and comfort  in the days ahead.

Libby, I was so saddened to hear about Hoover.  I have too many memories of him over 26 years to put into words.  So glad he had all these last years with you by his side.  You will be in our thoughts & prayers.
