Jim was born in Jackson County Missouri on May 10, 1949, to Phyllis (Larson) & James M. Martin, Sr. Jim graduated from Truman High School in 1967 and in 1969, he was drafted into the United States Army and served until December of 1971 when he received his Honorable Discharge.
In 1973, he met the woman he would eventually marry, Frances M. Martin (Martinez). They would marry on March 17, 1973, and made their home in Gladstone, Missouri. Jim worked for AT&T for more than 20 years.
In August of 1977, Jim and Frances welcomed into the world, their son, Garrick T. "Toby" Martin. Jim was known to have a love for the game of baseball and movies. He has taught so many people the joy of playing the game of baseball and encouraged everyone to never stop believing in their ability. Later in life, Jim found comfort in rebinding his relationship with God and listening to music.
Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, Gary Martin, Steve Martin, Brian Martin, and David Dotson; brother-in-law, Frank Martinez, Jr.; sister-in-law, Stephanie Martinez; parents Phyllis (Larson) & James M. Martin, Sr.
Jim is survived by his wife, Frances M. Martin (Martinez); son, Garrick T. Martin; brothers, Perry Martin, Danny Nolan, and Tommy Nolan; sisters, Tammy Canon and Joy Lynn McConnell; sister-in-law, Linda Martinez; daughter-in-law, Kristen Monroe; grandkids, Cheyenne Martin, Addison Martin, Austin Monroe and Ethan Monroe; and multiple nieces & nephews.
