

James H Messer, age 74, of Gladstone, Missouri passed away on Monday, November 6th, 2022, holding the hand of his loving sister Thelma Hamant in Kansas City, Missouri. James was born in Hindman, Ky to Danis and Thelma Messer on October 4th, 1948. He entered military service in the United States Army in Butte, Montana on May 2, 1967, and served until April 24, 1970.
James will always be remembered for his love of good music, muscle cars, motorcycles, his infectious smile and a laugh that was unmistakably his own. He adored his family and met so many good friends everywhere he went.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Danis and Thelma Messer, 2 siblings, Carol Barney and Howard Messer and 3 nephews, James and Jacob Whaley and Johnny Schultz.
He is survived by his former wife, Luanne Hammock Mullen, his daughter Brandi West, his grandson Hunter Avent, his granddaughter Ashley West, his sisters, Brenda Uribe, Shannon Whaley, Landra Seidl, Thelma Hamant and Willie (Dawn) Amalong, and his brothers Robert (Junie) Young, Eric Young and Aaron Young and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Monday, November 14th, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. till 3:00 p.m. with a Loving Remembrance beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Newcomers White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch RD, Gladstone, MO 64119 and a Graveside Service on Tuesday, November 15th, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in Leavenworth, KS.
