Janet Shanks

Janet Shanks was born August 9, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri to Gordon William Shanks and Louise Hill Shanks and died October 13, 2024 in Vancouver, British Columbia., Canada. Janet was joined by a brother, William Hill Shanks and a sister Carolyn (Shanks) Pollard who all grew up on a farm 6 miles SE of Polo, Missouri. Preceding Janet in death were her parents and sister. Janet graduated from Polo High School and the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri with a B.S, degree in Fashion Merchandising. Janet worked at Stix, Baer, & Fuller Department Store in St. Louis, Mo., Goldblatt Department Store in Chicago, IL., US Navy Post Exchange in San Diego, CA., and retired from Costco as Vice President of Fresh Foods & Food Safety for Canada. Janet loved her family and was generous with her good fortunes, contributing her time and money whenever a family member, friend, or good cause was in need. Janet leaves family William H. Shanks and A. Gail Shanks, Krista (Shanks) and David Holtzmann , Patrick and Laura Shanks, Kara (Shanks) and Edward Benyas, Kevin and Wendy Pollard, Cary (Pollard) and Doug DeNault. Janet would want to thank all her relatives and friends for sharing their love with her but a special thanks to Lorelle Gilpin who worked with Janet at Costco for many years and became a sister to her.

Visitation, funeral, and burial will be at the Newcomer’s White Chapel Funeral Home & White Chapel Cemetery, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, MO. Visitation is at 10:00 AM , funeral is at 11:00 AM. January 11, 2025.
