Janet M Stevens

Janet Stevens aka Nana or Ms Janet, at age 79, died peacefully on Sep 23, 2023. Janet was born on Sep 13, 1944 in Brooklyn, New York to Charles & Mimi Stone. Janet graduated Nursing school in New York City as a Registered Nurse. Janet then married her first husband John D. MacMullen & they traveled the world as a military family. After being widowed, Janet met & married her new love, Thomas Stevens. Blending two families into one. Janet’s children remember her as a feisty, vibrant, sassy, all knowing, loving, kind, happy, patient, care giver to all. Janet was active in a multitude of different lay ministries & a dedicated member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer. Some of her favorite ministries included Altar Guild, choir & volunteering at the Northland Infant Clothing Center (NICC). Janet enjoyed the Gators, KC Chiefs & under duress KU basketball. Janet was always willing to roll up her sleeves and give of herself in any community she visited.

Janet was preceded in death by: Charles & Mimi Stone (parents), John D. MacMullen, US Army Retired (late husband), Scott Boyum (son in law).

Janet is survived by her husband Thomas Stevens-MO, her brother Jim (Eileen) Stone-FL, her sister in law Jean MacMullen-FL, her children Eileen (Charlie) Petrocelli-AZ, Diane Boyum-MO, Chris (Sherry) Stevens-KS, Aaron Stevens-MO, Josh (Colette)-MO, her grandchildren CJ (Becky) Petrocelli-AZ, Lucus (Hannah) Petrocelli-AZ, Maddison Petrocelli-AZ, Kelsey Boyum-MO, Douglas Boyum-MO, Parker Stevens-MO, Ayden Stevens-MO, Alexander Stevens-MO, Justin Stevens-MO, Abby Stevens-MO, Lauren Stevens-MO, her great grandchildren Kain, Colt, Owen, Lincon, along with her nieces, nephews, and extended daycare family.

Visitation is scheduled for 9:30am with a Celebration of life following at 10:30am on Oct 7, 2023 at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 7110 N 9HWY, Kansas City, MO 64152, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Janet’s life.
