Right from the very beginning, it was obvious that he was going to be a very special baby boy. It was eventually determined that Jason was developmentally disabled and would require additional care and support throughout his lifetime.
Even though our hopes were high for continuous improvement, Jason just could not exceed beyond wearing diapers, being non-verbal and needing 24/7 personal attention for his every need.
In 1990 the “big move” from Missouri to Memphis brought the entire family to Tennessee. Jason lived at home with his family consisting of Mom and Dad (Jacqueline and Newton Brown) and his three brothers Aurelien, Ludovic and Loic Bruneau.
After graduating from Germantown High School Special Education Department in 1998, Jason was included in a newly formed Medicare waiver program that was working at placing developmentally disabled individuals into the community. Jason was fortunately included and partially supported through the waiver until his death on July 29, 2021.
Jason enjoyed being out in his community. He would often go water walking, attend physical therapy sessions at the Therapy Hut in Cordova TN, walks around various area nature parks and malls as well as routinely participating in Special Olympics Bowling activities!
Recently the pandemic curtailed most of Jason’s community participation and unfortunately the end result being his reoccurring bouts with aspiration pneumonia that caused his death.
We are not planning a memorial service; therefore, in lieu of flowers, we are requesting that donations could be made in memory of Jason Brown: the Special Olympics of Memphis located at 1355 Lynnfield Ste. #273 Memphis TN 38119 or to the Baptist Reynolds Hospice House located at 1520 W Poplar Avenue Collierville TN 38017
