Her early years were divided between Kansas City, with Martin and her step-mom, Cindy, and the Lake of the Ozarks with Laurie and Jenn’s step-dad, Mike Chapple.
Jennifer was beautiful, passionate, empathetic, brave, and creative. Her hands were always busy; she used them to work, to help others, to comfort, and to create. That creativity in all aspects of her life could transform the ordinary into the extraordinary, turning Jenn’s life itself into a work of art. The first to stand up for others, the first to help someone in need, Jennifer was always authentically Jennifer ~ funny, unique, and curious. The world will never see another like her. Our hearts are shattered.
Jennifer leaves relatives too numerous to mention, near and far, from the Spake, McKay, Chapple, and Bakeman families. She leaves her loving boyfriend, Brian Scofield, and his family. She leaves many friends and colleagues. And, she leaves her beloved four-legged soulmate, Freddie. If you know Jenn, you know about Freddie Boom. We believe there are endless smiles in Heaven as she is reunited with family and friends who preceded her in death.
Heartfelt gratitude goes to the medical teams for their brilliance and compassion.
Jennifer was known and loved for lighting her many candles. Please honor her memory by lighting a candle and sending Jenn up in light and love. Please honor her legacy by living each day to the fullest, by helping those in need, or by rescuing an animal. Remembrance donations may be made to the Equal Justice Initiative, the ACLU, or to the animal rescue organization of your choice. And please remember to tip Jenn-erously.
A private graveside service was held per Jennifer’s wishes.
