Jo Ann Cass Brown, 87, Kansas City, Missouri died peacefully in her sleep on October 29, 2019. She was taken unexpectedly and there are no words to express the depth of our loss. We love you and miss you and will continue the laughter, even through our tears.

Jo Ann was born February 8, 1932 to Mary and Joseph Cass. She grew up in the Kansas City area, along with her sister Mary Jane, and a brother, Joe, and later raised her 4 children; Mark, Mike, Karen and Mary Jo Musacchio in the Northland.

In December 1969, Jo Ann married the love of her life, Gary Joe Brown. They've had 50 wonderful years together. Jo Ann and Gary loved to travel and owned 3 travel trailers over the years. Colorado was always a favorite spot and many vacations were spent both in summer, for exploring, and winter for skiing, or in Jo Ann's case, watching Gary and friends ski while she read, crocheted or visited with people in the ski lodge. They traveled to Europe a few times and took several cruises over the years. She loved seeing the world.

Jo Ann didn't know a stranger and had so many great friends here and at their second home in Tucson, Arizona, where she and Gary spent the last 23 winters.

Jo Ann knew the importance of education and started her college career in her 40's. She graduated with honors from Maple Woods Community College. Never known to sit still, Jo Ann was always looking for ways to keep busy and learn new things. Her hobbies and interests included; crocheting, bowling, music, playing the organ, sewing, reading, ballroom dancing, writing short stories and essays, traveling, playing bridge, quilting and creating art with stained glass.

She had a fabulous sense of humor and loved laughter most of all. It is the best quality that all her children inherited.

Jo Ann was a loving grandmother to Mark Jr, David, Dominick, Jessica, Anna and Olivia. She took great pride in having wonderful grandchildren and great grandson's.

I first met Jo Ann in the stain glass shop many years ago. She made a quilt design hanging piece which caught my eye. In fact, I loved it so much, I made one myself. Every time I look at mine I admire it, of course, and think of Jo Ann. I will now always think of her even more. Gary, our condolences to you and your family.
