JoAnn was born in Northern Heights, Missouri on December 3, 1932, to James and Adria Ferrero, with her beloved mother passing away in June of 1942.
In August of 1949 at the age of 17, JoAnn married the love of her life, Charles Buckley. Together they would literally build a house in Pleasant Valley, Missouri with hammers and nails. It was there that they would live happily married for 47 years, while raising their family.
In 1966 Charles had an opportunity to buy a business, so at the end of a work day and with papers in hand he arrived home, told JoAnn to "sign this". It was at that moment that JoAnn and Charles became owner/operators of North Kansas City Auto Trim. JoAnn would continue working at American Can Company prior to permanently joining Charles at “the shop”. She enjoyed visiting with the customers and keeping the candy jar full. JoAnn continued to stay active at the shop until she “retired” in 2022, just prior to her 90th birthday.
JoAnn had many enjoyments in life but some of her favorites were, her family, her business, trips with family or with girlfriends, and getting her hair done on Saturday mornings. She, along with Charles, were avid horse racing fans, where she especially loved the gray ponies. She loved her adopted cats, loved to go out to eat (particularly seafood or tacos and margaritas), and she firmly believed that Saturdays were made for shopping.
JoAnn along with her family were blessed that they could all be together on December 3rd to celebrate JoAnn's 91st birthday.
Charles, the love of JoAnn’s life, went to be with the Lord on October 21, 1996, and her brothers, Robert and James departed this earthly life in 2013.
JoAnn is survived by family members: sons, Kenneth (Susan) Buckley and Harold (Robin) Buckley; daughter, Susan (Kyle) Wilson; grandsons, Scott (Mandy) Buckley and Brian (Shannon) Buckley; granddaughter, Kaitlyn (Austin) Vandivert; great grandsons, Logan Buckley and Carson Buckley; great granddaughter, Madison Buckley and extended bonus family members Mason, Annie, Tiffany, Samantha, Cyrus, and Susan.
Our hearts are broken but we are happy you are comfortable and renewed with Charles once again.
We love you!
A visitation at White Chapel Funeral Home will be held on Thursday, December 21 at 10 AM with a Celebration of Life to follow at 11 AM. Burial will follow services in White Chapel Cemetery (6600 NE Antioch Rd Gladstone, MO 64119)
