Born on October 17, 1957, and raised in Warrensburg, Missouri, John lived his life immersed in his passions. Beginning in high school, he pursued an early career in radio as an on-air personality, followed by many years supporting several local radio stations in a myriad of capacities. Simultaneously, John was the owner-operator of Phonogenic Productions, providing audio engineering and production services in the Kansas City area for a diverse set of clients and applications. Additionally, as a gifted journalist and avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, John covered the team for broadcast and online channels across three decades. Most recently, he proudly served as the Managing Editor for Arrowhead Pride, a nationally recognized online publication dedicated to the Chiefs. John was one of the first Chiefs fans to contribute to Arrowhead Pride when it launched, cementing his journeyman story within an organization he cared so much about.
John leaves behind a kind and adventurous spirit with an enthusiasm for life that will be remembered and cherished by his loved ones forever. He was preceded in death by both parents, David Joel Dixon (1987) and Mary Riggs Dixon (2006).
He is survived by his wife Terri Dixon, sisters Nancy Dixon and Betsy Badger, daughter Chyleina (Cory) Herron, son Tim Dixon, step-children Laura Green, Shane Sperry, Stacey (Tim) Hemrich, and several grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Ascend Hospice Care for all their kindness and gentle care of John during his final weeks.
