

John Edward Ellis (Jaybird) passed away April 19th, 2023 at home surrounded by family.
John was a hardworking man with a funny personality. He was loved by all. He loved to fish, work out in the yard and do things with his family. He was a true fan of the Kansas City Chiefs as well as the Kansas City Royals. John had four children, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The love of his life was Harriett Louise Ellis. They were together for 53 years until he passed. John was a Veteran after serving in the United States Army as a Medic. John had the appetite of a kid, he was an extremely picky eater.
John is preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Martha and Saint Patrick. His sister's, Shirley and Jeanette and his brother's, Buck and Jim. As well as his youngest child Johnna Hughes and his youngest grandchild, Chayden Jacye.
If you knew John, you knew he was an avid dog lover. He is also preceded in death by his best buddies; Willie and Pugsley.
The family would like to say thank you for all of the condolences as well as the love and support. They would love to see any pictures or hear any stories you may have of Jaybird. He will be greatly missed and forever loved.
A visitation will occur Tuesday, April 25, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, at Newcomer's White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, Missouri. A celebration of life for John will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 1:00 PM with interment in the White Chapel Cemetery.
