She was born in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of James C. and Mary L. (Walsh) Hughes. Judy graduated from Northeast High School in 1959. She graduated from Trinity Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in 1963 and from the College of St. Francis. Judy worked as a registered nurse for 44 years, 35 of which were at North Kansas City Hospital.
Judy loved traveling to the National Parks, reading and caring for others. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Hughes; one brother, Larry Hughes and one aunt, Thelma Walsh.
She is survived by two sisters, Nancy DiGeorge and Susan Huffman of Belton, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Janice Hughes of Winder, Georgia; and nieces and nephews.
